The Texas Concealed Handgun License law went into effect on September 1, 1995. As of December 31, 2009, Texas had over 400,000 active Concealed Handgun License Holders. That number continues to grow as more and more Texas residents recognize that personal defense is both a right and a responsibility.
Police budgets are strained throughout the state and that trend is likely to continue. Even when police departments are fully staffed, they are more likely to show up after a crime has been committed rather than being available to prevent the crime.
Concealed handgun laws reduce violent crime for two reasons. First, they reduce the number of attempted crimes because criminals are uncertain which potential victims can defend themselves. Second, victims who have guns are in a much better position to defend themselves. Countless studies have shown this. "I always wanted to get my CHL but kept finding excuses as to why I did not have the time to take the course. The day I took the class with Urban Conceal, Dru kept the class flowing in a way that everybody stayed engaged in the learning process. The time flew by and the information was both interesting and fun."
R. Couture, Dallas, TX
"The class I took at Urban Conceal gave me a clear picture of the responibilty associated with being a CHL. It was nice to take the class from an instructor that clearly emphasized the use of deadly force as a last resort. Dru is not a your every day gun fanatic, but a regular guy who believes in the right to carry"
S. Handy, Arlington, TX
"I took a beginners handgun class with UC prior to siging up for the CHL class. As a female living in the "Big City" I sometime feel a bit vulnerable to crime. I learned how to handle a hangun with confidence and how shoot effectively in a very short time. While I have always had a healthy respect for handguns, now I can add that I have the confidence to use one as well. As for the class, it was precise, educational, and fun. The time flew by even though I was bit eager to get to the range." A. O'Neal, Frisco, TX
